A few unusual angels. (sources: x, x, x, source for fourth is unknown.)

The first four aren’t that unusual; they line up pretty closely with the Biblical descriptions of cherubim and seraphim.

Ever wonder why most Bible stories with angels start out with the angel saying something to the effect of, “Okay, now don’t freak out…”?

and the fifth one is actually a Throne, which is technically an angel, but it’s the highest class of angels

Yep. Angels don’t look like humans with wings, folks.

Halos don’t even really exist they’re supposed to be heavenly light shining behind the angel, not a headpiece.

They go over all of this in the Book of Ezekiel in case anyone is wondering. You can google it if you don’t actually want to pick up a Bible.

I can actually identify the last three drawings for you. From the Christian Bible, they are of the First Sphere and serve as heavenly counselors.

The first image is a Seraphim: the highest angelic class that serve as caretakers to God’s throne and continuously shout “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory” (no wonder Lucifer left ffs) They have six wings- two covering the feet, two covering the face, and two they use to fly. (Isaiah 6:2)

The second is the Cherubim: they guard the tree of life in the Garden of Eden (maybe they should have guarded the tree of knowledge too) and the throne of God. They’re depicted with four faces- one of a man, an ox, a lion and an eagle. Typically, they also have four conjoined wings covered in eyes, the body of a lion, and the feet/hooves of an ox.
Extra tidbit: English translation has misconstrued the Cherubim with the Putti, which were the winged diapered toddler fuckers used in art.

And last we have the Throne or Ophanim: living symbols of God’s justice and authority. They’re described as “a wheel within a wheel” with rims covered in hundreds of eyes. (even the other angels think they’re fucking weird looking). The Thrones and the Cherubim go hand in hand. "When they moved, the others moved; when they stopped, the others stopped; and when they rose from the earth, the wheels rose along with them; for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels." Ezekiel 10:17. (so it’s kind of like the Cherubim control the Ophanim or whatever)

bless u leila
